STEAM LOSS MANAGEMENT
A steam loss management project has as its main objective the analysis of your steam infrastructure by using ultrasonic & infrared equipment, and the collection, analysis and reporting of your steam loss data. We present an overview of the possible steam traps, together with a summary of every installation per P&ID.

Having invested in a steam system, it makes economic sense for the owners to maintain it at its optimum operational efficiency. Boilers and other steam plant producers are the most significant energy consumers in a refinery. An important issue with regard to steam and condensate systems is the ability to predict consumed and/or wasted energy and opportunities for reducing energy consumption during the operation of the boiler and steam plants.

A typical steam loss management program achieves a return on investment on average after a period of 5 months. Our experience shows that on average between 10 to 20% of all steam traps exhibit leakage. Steam losses are losses caused by defective steam traps, bypasses and process valves that start discharging steam with condensate causing high financial losses.

COMPRESSED AIR AND VACUUM LEAK DETECTION

Compressed Air, Nitrogen or Vacuum leaks are easy to ignore; the noise of the expanding air/N2 is difficult to hear above the background noise from your industrial activity. 20 to 30% of the compressed air, nitrogen or vacuum generated in utility or instrument air networks that are older than 5 years is lost forever.
The Sniffers offers a complete leak detection program that goes beyond the traditional methods.

Accurate measurements with special ultrasonic devices provide specific information and a total overview of your energy losses and potential savings. Internal and external leaks can be detected and leaks through welding cracks are revealed. Using a parabolic sensor, The Sniffers assesses inaccessible sources to identify leaks and energy savings that would normally stay hidden.

At the end of the monitoring campaign, The Sniffers provides the customer with a complete report including ROI’s, graphs with your campaign’s results and specific recommendations on how to realize these savings with a minimal maintenance effort.
