Clayton Equipment Company
Designer and manufacturer of high efficiency compact boilers and heat recovery boilers
۱- Introduction
Clayton Company was founded in 1930 and reorganized in 1935 under the name of Clayton Manufacturing Company to research and develop new concepts in thermodynamic and mechanical products. Clayton Industries has been manufacturing steam generators for over 70 years and heat recovery converters for over 30 years helping to save energy and recycle energy around the world.
۲- Steam generator structure
Using a unique design, Clayton Company has produced a compact steam generator with significant benefits for use in today’s modern world. The performance of the Clayton steam generator is based on its simple and innovative design. In this generator, boiler feed water is pumped from the bottom of the boiler to the top of the boiler into a single pipe heating coil with a Clayton pump. The cold water entered by heating in the coil in the generator changes its phase, and steam with high pressure and quality comes out from the other side of the coil. The steam/water mixture enters the high-efficiency centrifugal separator from the coil outlet, and in this separator, the high-quality, completely dry heater is separated from the water and exits the boiler, and the water separated in the separator will be returned to the boiler.
The operational design of the Clayton steam generator eliminates the need to maintain and heat large volumes of water. Therefore, all models of Clayton steam generators are small in size and weight, and they can also be accommodated in a very limited space. One of the most important advantages of the low volume of water in these generators is that there is no possibility of steam explosion in a Clayton steam generator.
۳- Advantages of Clayton steam generator
The forced circulation design in the spiral coil of the Clayton steam generator has resulted in outstanding benefits for the user. Below are some of these benefits:
High performance quick response
Little space required Low Blowdown
Quick setup Fully automatic system
Safety Maintenance-free operation
High quality steam Low maintenance cost
۴- Clayton exhaust heat recovery boiler
Releasing excess heat from waste gases into the atmosphere is not desirable and affordable in today’s modern world. This excess heat can be harnessed using a Clayton heat recovery boiler and used as a valuable source of energy. By using Clayton’s heat recovery boiler, in addition to saving space, steam or hot water production is almost free for many years. Heat recovery boilers are used in marine vehicles, power plants and many industries.
The Clayton Heat Recovery Boiler is the smallest, most efficient and safest means of producing high quality steam as well as hot water using waste gas streams. The size and low weight of this boiler is one of its other advantages, which is very important for heat recovery boilers. A heat recovery boiler with low weight and size can be installed close to the heat source so that part of the pipe is exhausted. The simple configuration of the Clayton spiral tube is designed to maximize the efficiency of the device and allow the free movement of gas against the direction of the water flow, thereby providing maximum efficiency of the device.
۴-۱- Method of operation
Clayton heat recovery boiler works on the principle of forced circulation of water in a spiral coil. This boiler is installed in the path of the exhaust pipe and by transferring heat from the exhaust gas to the water entering the boiler, it turns the water into steam. The water inside the coil is pumped in the opposite direction to the hot gases by the Clayton pump. The mixture of water and steam from the outlet of the coil is directed directly to the Clayton centrifugal separator, where the steam is separated from the water in it and high quality steam flows to the outlet. The separated water is returned to the feeding tank.
Another designable feature of Clayton heat recovery boilers is that multiple Clayton heat recovery boilers can be connected together for automatic control at the same time.
۴-۲- Application of Clayton heat recovery boiler
Clayton heat recovery boiler can use the heat in exhaust gases from diesel engines, small gas turbines, glaze furnaces, low pressure furnaces and other suitable applications including high temperature processes, for example heat from thermal oxidizers, steam production slow
Clayton heat recovery boilers have been widely used in land and marine installations for more than 40 years to recover heat from the exhaust of propulsion engines and diesel engines for power generation, heavy oil engines and finally gas engines. Engines with electric generators up to 15 MW in size are ideal for heat recovery using a Clayton heat recovery boiler.
۴-۳- Advantages of Clayton heat recovery boiler
The advantages of Clayton’s heat recovery boiler include the following:
- Low weight
- High efficiency
- High quality vapor production
- Low volume
- Quick response to changes in steam demand
- Maintenance-free operation
- security
- Low Blowdown
- Low repair costs
